![]() ![]() The kingdom is celebrating the christening of Aurora, the daughter of King Stefan and his consort. Upon learning the truth, Maleficent is enraged and swears revenge. She orders Diaval to spy the castle and get information, which he does. In order to find out what happened, she rescues a raven that was about to be killed and turns him into a human, so that he becomes Diaval, her servant. The next morning, Maleficent wakes up in pain and sorrow for having had her wings cut. The king is surprised and declares Stefan his successor. He prepares to stab her, but gives up and severs her wings instead, bringing them to the king as if he had actually killed her. They spend some time together, but at night he persuades her to drink a soporific so he can kill her. Stefan takes advantage of his relationship with Maleficent and goes see her once more. ![]() The king, now frail but thirsty for revenge, offers the throne's succession to anyone who can kill "the winged creature". In the midst of the battle, she seriously wounds the king himself, who was in the battlefront. Years later, Maleficent, along with giant wood creatures, defends the Moors against an invading army of the neighboring kingdom. Stefan would visit her again many times, but gradually shifts his interest to his ambitions within the human kingdom. One day, she meets Stefan, a boy from the kingdom, and they fall in love. She lives in the Moors, a forest kingdom populated by small creatures, who are neighbors to a corrupt human kingdom that seeks to steal the wealth contained in the forest.
